Elevator Artist Resource is facilitating the Artist Relief Trust (ART) , a coalition-led initiative working to provide emergency assistance to artists in need who have lost work due to Coronavirus/COVID-19 related closures & cancellations.
ART is awarding $500 microgrants to artists of all disciplines from the Greater Louisville Area and across the state of Kentucky. Awards are prioritized based on artists' immediate needs for basic necessities to survive during this challenging time - like housing, food, and health care. Applications are reviewed on a weekly basis as long as funding is available to be allocated.
Seed money for the Trust was provided by The Great Meadows Foundation ($50,000), Kentucky Foundation for Women ($10,000), Aldy & Gretchen Milliken ($10,000), and Julien Robson ($5,000). We are incredibly grateful for their leadership & generosity! And BIG THANKS those who have supported the GoFundMe campaign so far, including $500 from Jonathan Lowe, $250 each from Caroline Waite and Jed & Vian Hayden, and $200 from Rachel Grimes, and many others. We are so humbled and inspired by the generosity & compassion shown by these donations - especially heartening to see how many artists are reaching out to help other artists right now.
The first round of ART funding goes out on Monday, April 13 - to date we have applications from more than 400 artists. Please consider a donation to help raise more so we can meet this growing need!!
If you are considering a large donation and would like more information about the Trust and how to be involved, please contact Elevator founder/board chair, Alison Huff .
If you love Louisville, you love Kentucky, you love ART... and you have the resources to do so, please pitch in to this relief fund. Every bit helps. 100% of your donation will help support individual artists. And donations are tax deductible - Elevator will provide you a donation letter with tax receipt info.
Please help us help artists now. We'll get through this together! And then we can all get back to making great art...
Take care! -Alison
