Mensah Bey's Artist Residency in Cuba

Greetings and Welcome to the MBEY Arts + Artist Residency Experience!

In late 2018, I was accepted to participate in an Artist Residency with Rooster GNN in Havana, Cuba from July 11-20, 2019. I am asking you for your support in this endeavor. This opportunity would allow me to further my career and hone my talents as an artist. While many residencies are funded, this one will have to be paid out of pocket. This includes my  travel visa, flight and art materials such as paints, containers, paper, and canvases. I am looking to collect a portion of the donations by June 21, 2019 to be able to apply to the trip portion of the experience.

With your support, I will be able to bring my experience back to you. My goal is to exhibit works I create while in Cuba as well as future works inspired by the residency. Donations will also go towards building materials, installation materials, deposits and applications for submitting to galleries to host exhibitions.

My goal during the residency is to explore their relationship between self expression and contemporary technologies. As a country cut off from access to information that many societies are afforded, I'm hoping to capture the authentic Cuban experience. I will be documenting my experience and progress and sharing them upon my return home.

I am beyond excited for this opportunity and would be truly grateful for your support in making it all come to life. 

Any size donation is greatly accepted and certain levels of donations will receive benefits as listed below.

Donations of $30.00 will receive an 8x10 print of one of the artworks made on the trip. 

Donations of $50.00 will receive an 8x10 original painting on archival paper similar to what will be used during my trip.
Example:

Donations of $75.00  will receive both of the above (1 - 8x10 print and 1 - 8x10 original.) and a special thank you letter.

Donations of $100 or more will receive both of the above, (1 - 8x10 print and 1 - 8x10 original.) a thank you letter, and an original sketchbook drawing from the trip. You will also receive recognition as support for the initial exhibition and an exclusive invite for early viewing of the artworks.
