Artists For Nova Scotia

To the grieving families in Nova Scotia. This fundraiser is for you. On November 6, 2017, our friend and colleague John Davidson was killed in the line of duty.  We will never forget hearing the radio broadcast "officer down," nor the immediate response that our police family took in responding. These swift actions ultimately led to the take down and prosecution of the perpetrator. These were surreal moments for our department and the impact it had on our members and community will never be forgotten.

A song, by a local artist, Ryan McAllister,  titled: “The Thin Blue Line” was written to honour John and officers killed in the line of duty.  Ryan had worked alongside John the year prior to his death, on a youth video project. A song which he performed at John Davidson’s memorial service.

Fast forward to April 20th, 2020 where we learned that officer Heidi Stevenson was killed amongst 21 others in Nova Scotia.  These seeds of destruction were felt within families, friends and communities across Canada, leaving us all in shock.

With the events that transpired in John’s death and court case, we couldn’t help but feel called to move. One thing we all know is that we are stronger together. Our police department recognized this after receiving enormous support from our community and changed our slogan to “strength in community.”

For all of the families grieving in Nova Scotia, we want you to know that we are with you.  We do not want this loss to go unnoticed in the midst of Covid-19. We  can only imagine the grief you are feeling right now. Lean on us, in Abbotsford, who have only felt a splinter of what your community is facing. You are not alone.  From BC and throughout the rest of Canada and beyond, we are with you.. #NSSTRONG

So here's what we're going to do. We've gathered a handful of musicians to play 22 songs to honour the 22 victims and raise money for their families. As one of my Sergeants always signs his emails; all that is necessary for the triumph of evil, is that good men do nothing.

So let's do something! Lastly, don’t miss the show!  We're planning to play some music, live on our instagram page and Facebook this May 17th, 2020 at 7PM Nova Scotia time.

Keep an eye out for any changes and/or updates on our social media pages and here!
