Art Remains: Support WNC artists in the aftermath of Helene
Tax deductible
The artists and arts organizations that make the Asheville area the special, vibrant place we call home have been deeply impacted by Hurricane Helene. Many have lost homes, studios, equipment, livelihoods. Because damage is primarily from flooding, there is no insurance money to help folks rebuild.
Since the day after the storm, Lamplight AVL, an Asheville-based arts nonprofit that supports the community through engagement with music and the arts, has been building a multi-phase program to support Asheville area artists who were affected by Helene. The Recover, Remain, and Thrive Program offers both immediate and foundational support for long term recovery.
Phase 1, Art Recovers, is already underway. We are using existing Lamplight capital along with a matching donation from Make Noise to distribute grants of $1500 to 20 artists.
THIS FUNDRAISER WILL SUPPORT
Phase 2 of our recovery program:
ART REMAINS
And we need your help. Phase 2 will offer grants of up to $20,000 to Asheville area artists, collectives, or organizations. These grants offer foundational, longer term stabilization to “community connectors” - artists or collectives that serve as hubs with wide ripple effects. This money will be used to help them rebuild what has been lost, and to stabilize them so that they can remain in the area. We are raising $100,000 to support the first round of this effort.
If Helene showed us anything, it is that our community can come together in a crisis to help one another on the long road to rebuilding. Our hometown will be forever impacted by the effects of this storm, but with your support, we have an opportunity now to rebuild, together!
Please join us in our fundraising efforts, and share this campaign so we can reach our goal!
