Hi, my name is Rebecca Pifer, and I am setting this page up for Artur Kostrubyak. He is like a son to me and a close family friend.
Anyone who knows Artur loves him; he makes everyone around him laugh and feel good with his uplifting spirit and positive nature. He was set to graduate from the University of Illinois this spring to start nursing school in the fall; unfortunately, before this could all occur, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was immediately hospitalized and started chemotherapy within 48 hours; this occurred while he was out of town in Florida. He was lucky enough to meet an amazing oncologist who treated him with state-of-the-art care and continues to follow his progress -- Artur lived (literally) in the hospital for a month until he was stable enough to fly home where he was immediately hospitalized again.
Now that Artur is home, he is being treated by the best AML doctors in Chicago and we are positive he will beat this horrible disease. As he is unable to work or finish school while undergoing treatment, we anticipate significant costs with his usual bills, his insurance, his medical bills and the unexpected. Some close friends and family have already contributed and they should not feel obligated to contribute again. We are trying to add to his fund to alleviate any financial stress on him as a part of beating this disease.
His friends and family have all rallied to support him in any way possible as evidence of the amazing human being he is.
He has been overwhelmed by the generosity of others every day.
He has already decided he wants to specialize in oncology as a nurse once he beats this - I have no doubt he will pay it forward a thousand times.
