Arturo Rodríguez’s journey to recovery.

Hi my name is Cesar Gomez, on December 28, around 9am my cousin Arturo’s life changed forever. On his way home from work he experienced a heart attack while driving and hit a tree. The impact happened on the driver side of the vehicle, which caused him to have multiple broken bones, from his ribs to his heels. The trauma is so bad he will have a very long recovery process. He is a father and husband that loves providing for his family and due to the injuries he will not be able to do so. Mi nombre es Cesar Gomez, el 28 de Diciembre, como a las 9 de la mañana, la vida de mi primo Arturo cambio para siempre. En camino a casa de su trabajo le dio un ataque al corazón, cuando estaba manejando y chocó con un árbol. El impacto fue en el lado del chofer y eso causó múltiples huesos rotos desde su tobillo asta sus costillas el trauma es tan grave que su recuperación será un proceso muy largo. Es un esposo y padre que ama proveer por su familia pero con su larga recuperación no podrá hacerlo por mucho tiempo. Arterial blockage and accident:

Arturo's main heart artery was completely blocked, leading to a heart attack. Thank God all this happened less than .2 miles from his home and .3 miles from the police station and fire station.

Extensive injuries:

The impact of the crash caused severe injuries. His right leg and ankles were crushed by the engine, and his ribs were fractured on both sides. This trauma also caused internal bleeding which spread infection to other organs. His pelvis and nose were also broken.

Medical interventions:

Arturo has already undergone multiple surgeries and procedures and is expected to have a number more to combate all the trauma he endured from the impact. So far, doctors have controlled his internal bleeding and placed a stent in his heart to reopen the blocked artery and have placed metal plates and screws to stabilize his pelvis and right ankle.
