Arvid's Open Heart Surgery

Hello, my name is Savannah and I am creating this go fund me on behalf of my mom and dad (Cheryl and Arvid Bakkestuen). A while ago, at a routine wellness check, the doctors detected a murmur while listening to my father's heart. After some tests they discovered a defect in his heart. He was born with only 2 flaps on his valve instead of three. This caused his heart to have to work extra hard all his life. As a result of this, his heart is in very poor condition and deteriorating rapidly. The surgery to replace the valve is Monday October 9th. Our whole family is terrified and when I heard my mom talking about not being able to pay bills during this time my heart hurt even more. My father is already disabled due to a severe work injury many, many years ago, so my mom is the only one able to work. My dad will be in the hospital for up to a week and then will need to be monitored and cared for at home for several weeks following. Recovery will be long and hard, including physical therapy three times a week for three months. My mother will be my dad's main care taker. She has already taken off two weeks of unpaid work and who knows how much more she will have too. After the initial surgery, recovery, and weekly doctor's appointments, they truly don't know what they are going to do, to get by. If you can donate anything it is immensely appreciated.
