Asa and his need for Hi-Pec Surgery

Hello everyone.
It’s not a secret and most know that last year Asa was diagnosed with bowel cancer and had a large tumour removed in an emergency in January 2023. He had a round of chemotherapy and a scan and in the spring of 23 we were devastated to hear it had spread to his peritoneum in the form of cells and nodules.He then went on immunotherapy every two weeks.
This was working and we thanked god and had hope for the future.
Fast forward Christmas 23 and we were again devastated with the news that the cells had developed once more and were small tumours in the stomach area,the immunotherapy was no longer working and Asa started another chemotherapy ,a targeted and very aggressive one.
He’s been put forward many times for a surgery - Hi-Pec, but with lists being slow and the criteria being so stringent (not the NHS fault they have been fabulous through this all as has his oncologist)he keeps getting knocked back in favour of more simple cases.We are now exploring a private operation in London ,with a renowned professor,Dr Jamie Murphy,who we met with last week.
We are desperate,we need this to get the hope alive of a full recovery and many more years together and with our children and families.

HIPEC - Hyperthermic (or Heated) Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy, is a two-step procedure that treats certain cancers in the abdomen. Cancerous tumors are surgically removed, and then heated chemotherapy drugs are applied directly inside the abdomen to eliminate the remaining cancerous cells.
