Asal's birthday fundraiser for Vietnam Animal Aid

Tax deductible
My 36th birthday is coming up on January 26th and I'm raising money for Vietnam Animal Aid & Rescue. They were established in 2013 and are the ONLY rescue and sanctuary in Vietnam with farmed animals.

Here's how I found out about them:

I was visiting Hoi An recently and I noticed that most street dogs seemed quite scared and hesitant to interact with me. Then I found out about the dog meat trade in Vietnam. Although there is no difference between eating dogs and pigs, this came as a bit of a shock to me especially because the dog meat trade is operating a bit differently from animal agriculture. Not only are street dogs poisoned and killed for their flesh, people who work in the meat trade also kidnap and/or poison dogs who do have a home.

After learning about the dog meat trade, I was looking for animal rights organizations or groups to learn more about this and possibly help them out and this is how I found out about Vietnam Animal Aid. During my visit, I got to meet all the residents including 2 pigs, a chicken, 2 porcupines, 7 dogs and 12 cats.

Vietnam Animal Aid runs sterilization programs for street dogs as well as rescuing and caring for injured or sick individuals before rehoming them. Sterilization is very important to avoid more dogs coming into this world to end up in the same horrible situation and be exploited by humans or riddled with diseases. During my visit, I learned that vet care in Vietnam is very basic and it does not cater to farmed animals such as pigs. And yet, Vietnam Animal Aid is struggling to pay their vet bills and cover the rest of their costs. At the moment, they are caring for two individuals with cancer as well as having to pay for emergency vet visits and regular preventative care.

The donations from this fundraiser will go directly to Vietnam Animal Aid to cover their outstanding vet bills which is a total of $1,370 USD. Once we reach the target, I'd love to be able to raise more funds for them to help them with other costs and future vet bills.

I would hate to see Vietnam Animal Aid having to close their shelter's doors as I know they are the only hope animals in Vietnam have and I have seen how much work they are doing for the animals.

They will be able to provide all invoices for any donor who would like to see them.

Any small or large donation will help. Every cent counts. Thank you so much for your contribution to this fundraiser. It means so much to me.
