Support Fashion Designer Asata Maisé
Donation protected
Asata Maisé is a self-taught designer that repurposes vintage fabrics to create one of a kind pieces reminiscent of past eras. After sewing for 13 years and working with designers, such as Diane von Furstenberg & Michael Costello, Asata officially launched her eponymous brand in 2016 based on the cornerstones of sustainability and an exploration of history. Asata’s designs were featured on Vogue.com on June 3rd of this year. The Delaware native has experienced a recent influx in demand and new found audience because of this feature. In order to be able to keep up with this demand, she will need funding to continue to produce her bespoke garments. She has previously invested her own savings, accepted donations from close family, as well as applied for financial backing through the Vogue Fashion Fund. (Unfortunately, Asata was not a selected designer for the grant.) She completes all sourcing, pattern making, cutting, sewing, photography and packaging herself and as a result will need an adequate work space and equipment.
With donated funds Asata plans to purchase the following items:
Tables for cutting, sewing, printing and packaging
Studio equipment such as garment racks, professional steamer, storage bins, shelving, and an adjustable dressform
Laptop
Shipping and office supplies (i.e. label printer, pattern paper, boxes)
Threads, fabrics, and other sewing notions
Marketing tools (i.e. updated website, emails and advertising)
Asata has worked tirelessly towards this moment, any support to help her continue living out her dream will be greatly appreciated!
