Help Support Ash’s Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Life can change in an instant, and for our beloved badass Ash, the past few months have been an unimaginable challenge. Recently diagnosed with classical Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Ash and Brendan are now facing a turbulent road to recovery.
As we all know, battling cancer is not just physically and emotionally exhausting—it also comes with significant financial strain. Between medical bills that are stacking up, out of pocket IVF treatment, housing and transportation in Houston, chemo and recovery care, travel to the lower 48, and follow up scans, the burden is huge. Our goal is to ease some of the financial stress so they can focus on what truly matters—healing.
Ash and Brendan have always been ralliers, bringing light and love to everyone around them. Now is our time to support them. Every bit of help means the world, and together, we can lighten the load for someone who means so much to us.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support. And please don’t forget to share this —it absolutely makes a difference!
Details of Ash’s Journey so far:
Late January Ash went in to get a full body MRI while on a health-kick as a preventative measure from a company called Prenuvo. Over time she’d noticed really subtle, but compounding symptoms. She had some throat clearing (that she attributed to certain foods), a little bit of localized chest pain (that she was told was arthritis by several doctors), some fatigue, and a cough once and a while, but all of those were minor. The Prenuvo scan, unprescribed, ended up finding an orange size tumor in her chest cavity, situated between her heart, lungs, and sternum. After learning about the complexity of the issue, she then pursued multiple opinions and eventually got a biopsy at MD Anderson in Texas.
Ashley’s insurance didn’t cover her care in Alaska so she met with different providers in Portland and then Texas (who all had wildy different opinions - like cut through the sternum vs not, just surgery vs chemotherapy). Once they met with the last surgeon in Texas, the choice became a no-brainer and chemo was the best option. MD Anderson has dealt with these a lot, approaches cancer holistically, and they would expedite the situation. While other centers had her waiting a month for a simple referral approval, MD Anderson had a multidisciplinary team of 4 doctors scheduled immediately.
She was then diagnosed with Stage 2 Nodular Sclerosis Classical Hodgkin's Lymphoma, most common in younger adults. Ash’s treatment will include ABVD chemo, likely staying in Houston throughout her treatment. With the chemo having a negative impact on fertility (although not entirely), IVF has been recommended, so Brendan and Ash are currently moving through that process.
There’s always a silver lining and the success rate of chemo with this cancer is high. Maintaining the deep belief of full recovery and coming out stronger than before has been the priority.
We will be providing updates on her process, treatment, and recovery here on this gofundme page.
