Support Community Cleanup After Devastating Fires

My name is Lilly Vargas, and I was born and raised in Pasadena and Altadena. Like many of you, my heart is heavy with the devastation caused by the recent fires. These fires have not only destroyed the homes of friends, family, and neighbors, but they’ve left our community in a state of shock and grief.

As I sit here, I am struggling to comprehend the scale of destruction that surrounds us. It feels overwhelming, and yet, I cannot help but wonder: What can I do to help? How can we begin to rebuild, even in the smallest way?

After some careful thought, I’ve decided to focus on cleaning up the rubble left in the aftermath. We will first wait to see what FEMA and our local city will be able to clean up first and remove any hazardous material before we can step in. I believe that coming together as a community to help each other clear the remaining trash will be an important first step toward healing. This is where you come in.

I am organizing a volunteer effort to help clear the debris from affected homes and areas. Echo Park Trash Club has decided to join with the clean up. :) The cleanup will require tools and supplies like shovels, gloves, trash bins, masks, and other basic materials. I am raising funds to purchase these items, and any help—whether through a donation of supplies or financial support—will be deeply appreciated.

I belong too many groups on social Media Like Facebook " Beautiful Altadena" moderators Shawna Beer. I helped organized a massive protest back 2020 for racial injustice. I have done a Halloween Maze at the Masonic to raise money. I am also active on Nextdoor. My heart is with Altadena.
