Ashleigh’s Ghana Placement.

Hello! As some of you may know I am currently studying children's nursing at Bangor University. As part of my course, I am required to work in a hospital as well as going to classes at the University. My placement blocks are 7 weeks long. During my time at placement, I get the opportunity to go to different wards with different specialities. Being on placement gives me a first-hand learning experience of what it is like to be a nurse day in and day out, it shows me just how important the role of a nurse is to the children and their families. I have learned so much already from the placements I have been on so far in my university experience and have been given so many different amazing opportunities already.
I am currently in my final year of the course and I have been given the chance to go to Ghana, Cape Coast for 4 weeks from the 16th September to work in different hospitals with different specialists, to work with children in a different setting as to what I'm used to. I will be travelling along some parts of Ghana to work in different communities working in different wards and with different people. I will be learning about the vaccination process and just how important it is with newborn babies and the illnesses that are present in Ghana.
This is something I have always wanted to do since decided I wanted to train as a nurse when I was a child. Being given this opportunity fresh out of university is absolutely amazing and is a once in a lifetime thing. I will be able to learn things that I can carry with me for the rest of my career.
However, this does not come for free. I will be doing some fundraising events like quiz nights/game nights and will be using this page to raise money to help me with this opportunity. I will be setting aside money that I get from my job outside of the placement that I do.
It would mean the world if you could donate even the smallest amount to help me with this amazing learning experience. Thank you all so much!!
