Ashley Cornette’s Chemo Journey

2022 has been a devastating year for Ashley. Her body continues to attack her eyes leaving her only able to see shapes and shadows at this point. Since 2019 she has been battling uveitis and scleritis of unknown etiology. Her precious eyes stay constantly reddened and swollen. And her vision has decreased to the point of blindness. She’s been to multiple ophthalmologists and retina specialist in East TN. She started going to Vanderbilt and now this year has been traveling to Mayo in Minnesota to see an ophthalmologist uveitis specialist and rheumatologist. Lots of medications with no improvement have led to the start of Chemo this month. If you know Ashley, this has been a heartbreaking and difficult road. But never once has she complained or acted weak. We are hoping for improvement so that she can continue her career as a nurse practitioner in the field she loves. She would never ask for assistance but I think we owe this to her for being a wonderful nurse and mentor. She has to travel back to Minnesota at the end of Aug. for another week of tests and chemo evaluation. Ash has touched so many lives over the years and now we need to help her and show her how much we care .. thanks
