Ashley Durrell's Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
On behalf of Local 1434 and San Miguel Fire & Rescue, we are asking for your support, as one of our own has recieved devastating news about his daughter, Ashley Durrell.
"On June 12th, my family’s lives changed forever. My daughter Ashley had just undergone brain surgery a few days before to remove a large growth, so we were hopeful. Her doctor walked into the room and gave us the devastating news that Ashley had been diagnosed with Astrocytoma, a rare form of brain cancer. This disease is treatable, but unfortunately incurable. The average survival rate is 2 - 5 years in 85% of people diagnosed.
Ashley is a strong young woman. She is also a mom, a wife, a sister and a daughter. She’s ready to fight but she could use some help. Treatments will start soon and she will not be able to return to work. She will need help with many things ahead.
As a firefighter I’m used to taking charge, running toward a problem to solve it. As her dad I feel completely helpless. This is one of the most devastating, gut wrenching experiences I’ve ever been faced with. I’m sidelined and scared for what lies ahead for my daughter and her young family.
Any donations would mean the absolute world to us so that our family can focus on supporting Ashley through this difficult experience. We are so grateful to our community for the support, thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
