Help Ashley exit the year from hell

Hi! My name is Pam and I'm creating this GoFundMe for my dear friend, Ashley.

When I met Ashley, I was instantly struck by how easygoing and cool she was. I was at the dentist in the town I had just moved to, and she was on her first day at her new job as a dental assistant, shadowing my hygienist. She had also just moved to Steilacoom, only a couple streets away from me. We became fast friends, and our friendship only grew when we became covid bubble buds.

Ashley is one of the most kind, thoughtful, and empathetic people I have ever met. She takes care of the people she loves with ease and grace. After her partner underwent multiple neck surgeries, and then post-recovery, almost immediately suffered from a broken ankle and then post-surgical skin infection (you can't make this stuff up)- Ashley was there day-in-and-day-out to help feed, care for, and keep her husband company for the MONTHS he was incapacitated with the patience and compassion of a saint.

Unfortunately, our greatest strengths can also contribute to our biggest challenges.

In the last year, it became clear that her partner was not the person she thought she knew.

Just under a year ago, Ashley put her life on hold as she and T were prepping for a life transition together. T got a new job in Portland, and she paused her applications for dental hygiene school (something she has been working towards for years) to help manage their upcoming move (packing, cleaning, painting, yard work, and moving everything almost entirely by herself).

Almost immediately after she completed the months long move and arrived in Portland, he started the process of divorce, catching her complete off guard. Shortly after, Ashley finds out that she is pregnant- with twins. The pregnancy had extreme complications, resulting in multiple hospital visits, thousands of dollars of medical debt, and ultimately, a terminated pregnancy that was extremely challenging. Meanwhile, T was absent and antagonizing throughout the length of the pregnancy and had decided to hire an aggressive divorce attorney that began harassing Ashley despite the medical emergencies she was experiencing.

The litany of challenges and obstacles that Ashley has had to navigate this year has been almost constant. Despite this, Ashley has maintained positivity in navigating this deluge of life-shit that she’s been dealing with.

That’s why I wanted to start this GoFundMe for Ashley. She has $5,000 in outstanding medical bills, and roughly $5,000 of loans to fund the legal retainers and fees. She has broken tires she can’t afford to replace. She doesn’t have enough money for pay for the fees for an Oregon dental assistance license. She has a painful chipped tooth that she can’t afford to get fixed, and dwindling money in her bank account.

While she is trying to getting back to work, she needs help paying for her licensure fees that allow her to more easily find a job in Oregon that she will be appropriately compensated for given her skills and experience.

Please consider donating to support Ashley as generously as you can.

Your support will help a beautiful, caring soul to get back on her feet, emerge from the ashes and build a future for herself that is her own. Thank you.
