Ashley Fights Endometrial Cancer

Donation protected
Hello everyone! Ashley is not the type of person who likes to put her personal information out there; however, she quickly realized that life changes in the blink of an eye and sometimes you have to put yourself out there.

Ashley was diagnosed with at least stage III metastatic endometrial cancer late last year. As a young adult getting into her career as a cake decorator, she is thrown into the world of cancer. A hysterectomy alone was not enough, so she is undergoing chemotherapy. Her treatment so far has not gone without hiccups. Her first round of chemo was done via IV and caused cellulitis. Then, what should have been a straightforward course of antibiotics turned into an allergic reaction to the Clindamyacin prescribed. She finally had a port placed to make chemo easier and is now trying to figure out how to navigate cancer without having too many menty b's (Thanks @thecancerpatient). Unfortunately, she also found out she is one of the unlucky ones to have an awful reaction to chemo, so she must be pre-medicated and given chemo at a much slower rate to hopefully avoid reactions again.

She is now a week into her 2nd round of chemo, and the hits keep coming. She made it through round one with excellent labs, but this week she is neutropenic, her magnesium is non-existent, and the neuropathy and fatigue have taken a toll. She is currently teetering on the cusp of needing a platelet transfusion also. In addition, because of the heightened risk of infection (neutropenic) on top of the pandemic and trying to avoid the plague, she has to be extra careful to prevent infections or have an additional hospital stay. This makes trying to work REALLY difficult. Not to mention her hands and feet feel like they want to explode, so cake decorating is extra painful. Even something as simple sounding as grubhub is challenging because of the contact with people in the restaraunts.

While she does have insurance, medical costs add up and just trying to keep up with the demands of everyday life are difficult pre-pandemic and even worse during a pandemic. So please consider donating to help her get through treatment; this would really help her focus on treatment without worrying about finances for a short time. Every little bit counts, and everyone involved in Ashley's care appreciates the thought. During a non-pandemic year, the grants are amazing for cancer patients/survivors, but even the non-profits have been hit hard and don't have much to give this year.

For those interested, her treatment plan consists of:

-Hysterectomy
-Carboplatin and Taxol
-Brachytherapy
-Pelvic Radiation

And quite possibly another surgery between finishing chemo and starting radiation.

We will update you as anything important comes up (chemo, appointments, etc).
