Help Ashley Gibson get her surgeries
Donation protected
I'm starting this fundraiser for my daughter, Ashley. Ashley has been diagnosed with a rare condition called MALS or Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome as well as several other vascular compression syndromes and Dysautonomia after 5+ years of experiencing severe upper abdominal and left flank pain, nausea, esophageal dysmotility, back pain, dizziness and heart palpitations, and constant regurgitation and vomiting when she eats or drinks anything at all. She has lost 17% of her total body weight and only weighs 97 lbs at this time. It has taken over 2 years of going to doctors and being tested for everything under the sun to finally get a diagnosis. Since it is such a rare condition, it has been challenging finding a doctor who knows anything about it or has any experience treating it, and that is in network for her insurance. As you can imagine, medical bills are starting to pile up with many more to come. She is a stay at home homeschool mom to two beautiful children, Maelee 7 and Cade 4. Ashley is a wonderful, kind person who is always doing for others, and all she wants to do is raise her kids and have a normal life with her husband, Seth. Right now, her life is anything but normal. She misses being able to hold her kids without it causing her pain. She misses having the energy to play with her kids, go for walks, having pizza and movie nights with her family. She just misses that "normalcy" that most of us take for granted. She deserves a chance at having that again. She is just fighting to survive and keep life as normal as she can for her and her family. Every day is a challenge, and most days, she feels like it is more than she can take, but she continues to push through anyway. Some doctors say that with the nerve involvement, the pain can be compared to the pain experienced with pancreatic cancer.
It looks like there are a couple of surgeries that should be able to help. She will have to travel outside of Texas for at least one or possibly more of them, and the expenses are extensive. At this time, she is scheduled for open MALS surgery in Connecticut on March 16. The hospital bill alone will be at least $74,000, and the bill for the surgeon and anesthesiologist is $5,000. The insurance won't cover it because it is out of network, and the hospital won't work with us on a payment plan because, believe it or not, they are considering it to be an elective surgery. Plus, of course, travel expenses and loss of income while they're there.
We're absolutely trusting in God to heal her, and we know that He will provide what she needs. We're asking for your prayers, and if you feel led to do so, your donation. Every dollar helps. Please help my daughter get the treatment she so desperately needs!
