The Speas family need our help. Let’s dig in for a long innings and help.

 

Our friend Ashley Speas has been waging a serious battle against cancer for the past couple of years. Ash is a much loved husband to Gayle, and a wonderful father of 4 boys (Finley 18, Jasper 16, Lenox 15, and Sonny 9) and as a family they need our help. Ash is just 49 years old and it is heart breaking to see someone so young, so unwell.

 

Ash’s battle against cancer is far from won. Unfairly what comes with this battle is a substantial financial cost to the family. Medical expenses are astronomical and then on top the day to day living expenses is taking its toll on Ash and his family. A further cruel part about this battle is the financial impact is real now and will continue to impact their finances well into the future.

 

The Red Hill Cricket Club, and Red Hill Junior Football Club would like to support Ash and raise some much-needed funds for Ash’s ongoing costs. Medications, tests, specialists and treatments are costing the family in excess of $1000 per week on top of normal day to day living expenses.

 

Ash has been involved in the Red Hill cricket and football clubs for many years. At times it is difficult to find people to put their hand up to help to ensure kids get a chance to play sport. Ash, without question has always been first in line and sacrificed his own time to coach and volunteer. At times this may have meant he missed seeing one (1) of his own children play but that is just who Ash is. Ash has given so many kids the opportunity to play sport due to his dedication to the sporting club and the community.

 

Having children attend Red Hill Consolidated School and Flinders College has embedded Ash and Gayle in the community and they are much loved by all. To support this family at this time would mean so much.

 

Supporting the family can come in various ways and this is just one (1) platform that reaches so many. If we as a community could come

together now and financially support this family, the positive flow-on effect this would have on the Speas family would be immeasurable.

Behind the scenes the fundraising team are working to ensure that all donations are disseminated appropriately to suit the Speas family needs, now and into the future. All financial donations will be sent directly to the Speas Family so they can use to best support Ash and each other.
