I just graduated form college in May 2015 as a Kinesiology (exercise science) major and in a million years I never thought I'd be in the position I am. A month after graduation I landed in urgent care with debilitating back pain to the point that I couldn't stand. Thinking it was just a small-herniated disc I took the urgent care's advice and medicine and went home to rest for a few days and hoped to be back to normal. Little did I know what was ahead of me and how my life would change.
Fast forward a week from the urgent care trip I was still in debilitating pain and unable to stand well or even workout (which for me was a daily occurrence). After seeing many specialists, lots of pain meds and shots I got a very disheartening diagnosis. My back took a nosedive. I have severely herniated discs with unstable vertebrae, which needs to be fixed with a lengthy and pricy surgery. This diagnosis showed that my pain would not subside anytime soon. My shifted vertebrae that now push constantly on my spinal nerves make it nearly impossible for me to go any time without shooting pains down my legs and numbness in my legs from the knee down. I am scared this nerve damage will be permanent without the surgery within the next 3-6 months.
I never realized how much this affected me till I found a month go by without leaving my house to go to work or to Dr appointments. I find it difficult and embarrassing to be in public because when I stand up my back is crooked and my hip juts out to the left for the first 10-20 minutes of walking. This surgery will allow relief to the nerve and get rid of this debilitating pain thus allowing me to get my life back.
Along this very bumpy road I have accumulated medical bills that are outrageous and have inhibited me from proceeding with a surgery that will change my life. I have reached out to my immediate family and they have given me all they can. Now with all the insurance changes and the fact that most spinal surgeons and specialists I need to see do not take my insurance I am left paying exorbitant amounts of out of pocket costs that I can no longer afford.
I have finally booked a date to have a surgery that will give me my life back free of pain.
Now I need your help!!!
Please find it in your heart to donate to help pay my medical costs so I can be done with this and move on with my life and give back to those in need.
Thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart!
