Ashlyn Jean Medical Journey

My Name is Tracey and I am a family friend of this awesome family - I want to see a miracle for Ashlyn and know down deep that we can help this family stay together during this difficult time.....A little background on this amazing loving girl and her family.

What started out about a year or so ago has turned this family upside down, their beautiful 6 1/2 yr old daughter Ashlyn Jean Hanson was diagnosed with Pre B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

About a year or so ago Ashlyn started feeling a little under the weather, this started happening more and more. Like most parents they hate to see their child not well – they took her to the doctor and was informed it was something gastro. There were days that she felt good and days she felt puny... this went on for months then out of no where she spiked a temperature with no other symptoms, still not better after that so she went back to Doctor and was put on antibiotics for strep throat.

Here they had a daughter that they were so used to seeing play with her friends at school, watching her run up and down the soccer field, and hitting/running at T-ball practice start not wanting or able to do these things because she didn’t feel well, got so tired quickly and even wouldn’t want to play with her 1 ½ year old sister Kelsie or her puppy Emilee, she just wanted to sleep.

In December of 2016 –April and Garrett got to a point that something had to be done – she would not even try to eat her favorite foods, started being lethargic and even wouldn’t play with her favorite Ninja Turtle – Donatello that she would take everywhere!
She started losing weight, they thought it was just her body turning into a 7 year old.

The last straw for this family was they received a call from Ashlyn's school teacher saying – Ashlyn is not well – she has her head on her desk with the lights out crying her head hurts.  April & Garrett thought to themselves something is wrong and has to be done right away.

They got her scheduled with her Primary care Physician but could not get in until the next day. They then took her to an Optometrists, was told she has a condition called Esophoria  and will need reading glasses. The very next day she went to her Primary Doctor and got a ton of blood work done.  So far the Doctor knew she was very anemic, and might have bone morrow disease or Leukemia.  Early the following morning the Doctor called to say the results are not good and made the referral to- OHSU Doernbecher Childrens Hospital. They drove to Portland straight away. The Doctors ordered bone marrow and spinal tap testing. Results came back positive for Pre B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and she will be starting chemo right away.

After all this time they finally have an answer and know that she has many more obstacles to go to get better.

April and Garrett live 3.5 hours away from the hospital that Ashlyn will be staying and they really need a blessing to help them be there for her.

We are asking for you to reach out and help with anything you can to keep this family together during this time.

The money that we raise will allow this family to stay in the area as Ashlyn will be receiving treatment daily for a minumim of 30 days - as well as help with the monthly expenses to have their home taken care of while they are away.

Our love and thanks to each of you that are able to help us with this and we will be giving updates on our Ashyln Jean's progress :)
