Support Ashlyn's Missions Work with NYC Kids

Hi!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me so far as I stepped full-time ministry here in New York City.

This semester at Metro World Kids, I have trained in how to prepare curriculum and preach the gospel to children and families, and had the opportunity to apply that by doing ministry out in the streets of the Bronx, Brooklyn and Harlem.

At Metro, for Sidewalk Sunday school we bring out big yellow trucks to various project houses, and near parks and schools in areas of New York many others are not willing to go. On these trucks, we set the stage and kids come from the playground, their apartments and school programs to play games, hear from the Bible and most importantly have the chance to give their life to Jesus. For many of these kids and parents this is the only church they experience.

For Thanksgiving, we provided a full sit down thanksgiving meal to hundreds of children at Sunday school, and this Christmas, every child will receive a wrapped present. In addition to our weekly program and holiday initiatives like these, a big part of our ministry is home visitation for our Yogi Bear families; we talk, pray and sit and eat with them. The positive impacts are evidenced by, how when the kids see me passing out flyers at the school they light up, chanting "Yogi Bear! Yogi Bear! Yogi Bear!" or how when a child sees that Metro t-shirt, they will run up and give you a bear hug, regardless if they know you personally or not.

This semester, I have seen kids lives be changed by God, and it has taught me so much about the heart of the Father, and seeing how He is changing lives for the better. Moments like watching a girl from my bus recite the Lord's Prayer into the mic in front of everyone, even seeing the kids understand the Bible story before I even teach it.

As Pastor Bill Wilson has said, 'the need is the call,' and these children need someone who will stand in the gap for them, and pray for them by name. They need someone to tell them the truth about Jesus when they are taught the opposite in their schools. They especially need someone to love them as God does, because if we don't, who will? So I have made it my business to advocate for these precious children, in the best way I am able, by not just telling them about Jesus, but by showing up like He does.
