Ashton Layer

My name is Amanda Neuman-Simard and I am starting a fundraising for my best friends son Ashton Layer (19), below is his story.

On Saturday afternoon on his way to his grandparents house Ashton was involved in a serious single vehicle car accident.

Ashton is currently in an induced coma at the hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital Ashton had to have a 4 hour emergency surgery to repair some of the injuries that occurred during the accident.
He is currently intubated and on a ventilator. Some of the injuries he’s dealing with are a collapsed lung, infection, inflamed pancrease, loss of one kidney, part of his stomach and intestines had to be removed as they were severely damaged and significant blood loss. The doctor’s are unsure yet if more surgeries will be needed at this time but he is stable for now. He is fighting hard, the doctors say he is showing improvement everyday but has a long road of recovery ahead.

I am reaching out to friends, family and the community for support as Beckie and Kyle have not left Ashton’s side since the accident.

The vehicle that Ashton was driving in the wreck was his pride and joy, he started re-building his dad’s old pick up truck as a young teen, with a strong work ethic, from a young age he saved almost every penny starting with his first job and focused on re-building that truck and having it road ready by the time he was of age to drive. His proudest moment was the day he got to drive that truck down the road. Ashton is a great young man with a caring heart, he has a love of motor sports, he most recently started up his own mini mobile welding business on the side.

This Layer/Kidder family is well known in our community and have lent many of helping hands to others over the years for generations.

His family is forever thankful of your thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this difficult time, not having to stress about finances right now will be one less worry. Anything raised will be allocated directly to keeping Ashton’s bills covered until he wakes up and gets back on his feet. Especially due to him starting a new job two weeks ago with any access to insurance or benefits. Any amount would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for considering!

We will continue to provide update’s as often as we can on Ashton’s condition.
