Ashton United in the Community AUFCSC Walk
Donation protected
Over the period from the 1st to the 2nd of March this year, members of the official Ashton United Supporter's Club will be walking the 40 miles from Hurst Cross to Matlock Town's Proctor Cars Stadium, for our Northern Premier League fixture, in order to raise funds for Ashton United In The Community.
Here at Ashton United, we are not just a football club, we are very much a football family and as much as we support our team on the field, there is so much more going on away from the beautiful game.
Ashton United In The Community provides crucial support to members of our community on a daily basis, and the volunteers who are a part of it are almost exclusively from the area surrounding Hurst Cross Stadium. From our midweek Luncheon Club for pensioners, the food pantry that runs every week come rain or shine, to the training courses, qualifications, jobs/volunteering opportunities, or just a general space to come and have a cuppa and a chat, there aren't many aspects of local community spirit that aren't covered by this fantastic organisation.
As a group of football fans, you generate relationships that are more than you see in everyday life. Week on week you go through the same highs and the lows together as one, and it does nothing but bring you closer together. As an organisation, the Supporter's Club has gone from strength to strength over the last few years and we want to be able to contribute back to the community that makes our club the great place it is.
Steve Hobson:
"As Vice Chairman of Ashton United, Project Manager of Ashton United in the Community and a member of Ashton United Supporters Club I am in a rather unique position of ‘having a foot in every camp’. I am extremely proud to be associated with the three bodies all of which are in sync with each other creating a hub from which every element of partnership benefits. The greater benefit is to the community as a whole. Hurst Cross is an area of high deprivation where local residents have little or no disposable income. The work of AUITC is crucial to the lives of so many people and to see that the Ashton United Supporters Club members have embraced the charitable principles of AUFC and AUITC to the point they want to contribute to supporting local change is testament to wonderful people we have associated to all three entities."
Anything you can contribute towards this fantastic cause will help us continue to provide these services to the people of Hurst Cross and District.
