Ashton's army

When I think of a 4 year boy, I think playing in the mudd, climbing trees, catching frogs, fighting dinosaurs and superheros. I do not think of numerous doctors appointments, needles, continued testing and chemotherapy. I've quickly learned that the real superhero is this small child who is about to fight one big battle.
On December 7th 2018 we got a diagnosis that would change all of our lives forever.
What started as symptoms of a possible bladder infection or blockage quickly changed and within a week Ashton was unable to pee. After an extensive ultrasound and x-ray at cheo they found he has a 4cm tumor growing from his prostate. The tumor is so large it has pushed into the bladder and blocked his urethra.
December 20th all test results were back and it was time to have the meeting with the oncologist. Ashton has been diagnosed with Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma stage 4.
This is the fastest spreading and most aggressive form of pediatric cancer which is why it is often not found until it has reached stage 4. Along with the large tumor growing from his prostate the cancer has spread to the bladder, lymph nodes and his lungs. He started chemo the very next day. Treatments have been going strong since and will continue for a full year. Ashton, His mother Stephanie and his Bubbie (Carolyn) will be traveling to Jacksonville, Florida in March for 6 weeks of radiation therapy.
There is a very long road ahead and as we all know the medical bills, traveling, the medicine, and numerous other costs can be overwhelming. Their familyhas so many things to worry about right now and money shouldn't be one of them.
That is why I am reaching out and opening this page. There are countless people who more than anything want to help make this process as easy as possible for them.
Let's team together and help this family out.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support during this difficult time.
