Asian American Books, Everywhere All At Once

Donation protected

In the spirit of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (May), four Asian American Authors around the country have combined forces to raise awareness and diversify school libraries with books that feature Asian and Asian American children, families and cultures!

Our story
Currently, less than 15% of books published feature an AAPI character and we are on a mission to change that. It all started when four Asian American authors who are also creators, educators, parents, and entrepreneurs met online in 2021. Over the years in their respective homes, they remotely supported each other as they work tirelessly to create uplifting, educational and fun books for readers. They bonded over the shared love of Everything Everywhere All At Once, and came up with an idea that just made sense at the wee hours of the night — what if we join forces this year to send 500 books written by Asian American authors to school libraries all over the country?

With your help, we will be able to send 500 books to elementary and middle schools in Boston, California, New York City, New Jersey, and Seattle. This dream will be a reality.

About the authors:
- Yobe Qiu (byYobeQiu.com) - Award-winning and AAPI curriculum-friendly picture books featuring Asian children, families and cultures.
- Serena Li (duckduckbooks.com) - multilingual, multicultural, social-emotional learning books for kids (Pre-K - 2nd grade) @duckduckbooks
- Vincent Yee (clarawubooks.com) - an immersive award winning 5-book YA fantasy series where Asian American teens love their boba as they fight Asian-spawned demons to save the world. Readability is wide but recommended for higher MG, Tweens/Teens, college students and adults of all ages who love fantasy.
- Tracy Guan (tangerineandjadepress.com) - children’s picture books that celebrate and uplift diverse narratives (Pre-K - 4th grade) @tangerineandjadepress

About the cost:
Each of the books normally costs between $9.99-19.99; shipping for media mail costs between $4.99 - 10.00 by weight. When you support this campaign, about 20 schools will receive appx 10-50 books to add to their libraries for free.

Logistics:
This campaign will run from April 3 - April 30th

Books (written in English) will be sent to different schools in Boston, California, New York City, New Jersey, and Seattle between May 8th - May 19th to support the school's AAPI curriculum, and AAPIHM celebrations.

Whether it’s a generous grand, the amount of your bubble tea, or a dollar to help us cover GoFundMe transaction fees, donations large or small help tremendously! If you are not able to donate at this time, a simple share will go a long way to support the Asian American authors.

Moving the needle for the industry and making an impact to the kids lives cannot be done in silos; it takes a village to spark a change! Thank you for joining us to promote diversity in children's and young adults' literature! #AABEAAO
