Empower Asian Girls and Their Experiences

In 2019, the national leading cause of death for AAPI youth was suicide. Asian youth need positive role models and a community to support and guide them through nuances of mental health, racism, and sexism.

As a Chinese American girl, I've struggled with parts of identity and belonging, and I haven't always felt safe sharing those experiences with others. Whether it was fearing judgment or feeling distant from others in the room, I didn't have a safe space or trusted community.

Asian Girls Ignite works on building a strong community of AAPI girls and women to celebrate their individual and collective power. AGI (Asian Girls Ignite) welcomes Colorado AAPI girls and gender-expansive youth in grades 6-12. Storytelling is used to explore their identities, find connections and belonging, build community, care for their wellness, and inspire them to define what success and power look like for them.
