Help Me Raise $25,000 for PKD Research – Let’s Make an Impact!
I’m reaching out because this mission is personal—not just for me, but for the 500,000 people diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) each year. PKD is a rare genetic condition that affects only 1 in 1,000 adults, yet its impact is devastating.
The significance of this fundraiser is deeply personal to me because of my close bond with my grandfather. He was my best friend, my protector, and the very first person to hold me as a baby. He was always there to keep me out of trouble, and his love and guidance shaped who I am today. This mission is especially meaningful because PKD is a hereditary disease—one that my grandfather carried and, unfortunately, was passed down to me. While he peacefully succumbed to renal disease, I was diagnosed far earlier than most, as PKD typically remains undetected until a person’s 40s or 50s. Because of this, I feel it is my purpose to advocate for those affected by PKD—for people like my grandfather and myself. This fundraiser is not just about raising money; it’s about carrying on his legacy and finishing the fight he started—to find relief, resources, and ultimately, a cure for PKD.
So, What is Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)?
PKD causes fluid-filled cysts to grow on the kidneys, leading to enlargement, organ damage, and eventually kidney failure. In severe cases—like mine—both kidneys are affected, which means a single or double kidney transplant could be in my future. There are two types of PKD caused by genetic mutations:
ADPKD (Autosomal Dominant PKD) – The most common form, inherited from a parent.
ARPKD (Autosomal Recessive PKD) – A rarer, more severe form passed on when both parents carry the gene.
There is no cure for PKD. But with research, we can change that.
How You Can Help:
My goal is to raise $25,000 for the National Kidney Foundation to support PKD research, treatment advancements, and patient resources.
If just 250 people donate $50, we will reach our goal and make a real impact!
Every donation brings us one step closer to better treatments and a cure for PKD.
To make a difference for individuals like me, please donate to this cause so I and others can thrive in life without this terrible disease!
Supporting My Pageant Journey:
In addition to fighting for a cure, I am also fundraising for my journey to the Universe United Miss pageant! I need support for lodging, travel, wardrobe, and pageant fees to ensure I can compete at my best while advocating for PKD awareness on an international stage.
I cannot do this alone, but together, we can create change. Whether you donate, sponsor, or simply share this message, you are making a difference. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me in this fight for a cure—let’s bring this title AND awareness for PKD home!
