Asking for a Christmas Miracle for ~Abigail~

Christmas is that time of year when people often struggle, in many different ways. This year we’re asking for a Christmas Miracle for Abigail. She is the strongest 2 year old I’ve ever known..... she’s fought since day 1 and today she is again, fighting for her life. Abby was fortunate to have been born to the 2 most perfect parents for her. They have fought right alongside with her and are only young themselves. Brenden is my cousin, he is a funny, kind, caring, helpful, hardworking father and partner. Olivia is a gentle, smart, artistic, nurturing mother and partner and together they have endured more in 2+ years than most of us have in our entire lives. Olivia wrote some words to share about where they’re at.....
Mine and Brenden’s daughter Abigail has had a tough start to life with many major surgeries and countless procedures. She has the diagnoses of VACTERL with multiple anomilies and uses a feeding tube to eat. She spent the first 327 days of her life in Toronto Sick Kids hospital away from all of our family and friends. She was on palliative care for months and we were told she wasn’t going to live. Abigail’s proved the doctors wrong time and time again and our little 2 pound girl is now 20 pounds and feisty as ever. We just had a trip to Toronto for appointments and Abigail always catches some bug from being out and about in the cold and flu season. This year was the first year she couldn’t receive the RSV shot and she contracted not only rsv but 2 other viruses as well. She’s been fighting for her life ever since. She’s been life flighted to London Ontario and we’re sitting in the PICU while she is intubated and sedated and fighting high fevers and collapsed lungs and pneumonia. My beautiful girl has touched the heart of so many people and she’s still fighting every single day. We’re not people to ask for money or help, we work really hard to be able to provide what we do for our daughter. While we’ve received some help that we’re grateful for we just had an expensive trip for these last appointments and right in the holiday season. The cost for her formula, medicine, food and my own medical supplies has added up especially now that Brenden can’t work and needs to be with us during this hard time. Our savings has gone to emergency flights and trips to Toronto on top of our regular bill cost. Everything is so touch and go it’s so important to spend this time together. I don’t want gifts for Christmas, and I know we won’t be home for it either.. I just want my little girl to open her eyes, and if we had any help at all (please don’t feel obligated. Prayers and thoughts are more than enough too) we would be forever grateful. My Christmas miracle this year is that our baby pulls through this and I can hear her laugh and see her smile again. I hope you all have a happy holiday and hold your loved ones tight. - Olivia & Brenden
