Hey, most all of you know me, I’m Roger Gurley, I grew up in Stanly county 3/4’s of my life.

In October 2021 I started having severe upset stomach issues. It didn’t matter what I took it just kept getting worse. I saw my primary care Dr. And they ran a series of stool sample tests as well as sent me to different specialists appointments. I saw an infectious Disease Dr at Atrium Cabarrus and they had told me that 5 years ago June of 2018 I had been hospitalized for 2 weeks cause of kidney stones and my body had turned sepsis. The Dr. Said the infection I had in my body then along with all the 2+ dozen kidney stones I had then are still in my body today, they recommended getting all the stones removed in hopes that the infection would then leave my body,

I also on Jan. 12th of January had my second within 2 years Umbilical hernia surgery by the same Dr. And it still isn’t right.

I lost my STD along with my insurance 2 days prior to my surgery for no reason. Thus making me pay out of pocket to the Dr for her part of the surgery.

I saw a new Urologist in March and they did a Cystoscopy I believe I spelled that correctly to run a camera thru my private area to see inside my kidneys, upon doing so Dr said my prostate looked horrible. It was closing up, so he recommended surgery to correct that first.

On April 5th I had a Turp procedure performed, I spent one night in the hospital and then home to recuperate.

Some of the glands that were removed from my prostate were examined by a pathologist and determined to have malignant cancer growing. The medication without insurance was gonna cost me several grand, since then I have insurance to once again help with some medical bills.

8 weeks later I’m back in his office still no better shape then I was to begin with and after another scope of my prostate it was seen to have still more areas that were closing on me. So another procedure the Optilume was performed on July 7th of this year. And the following Monday I began taking my chemo/radiation pill for my prostate cancer. I’d like to say that’s been pleasant but I can. Assure you it has not. I’ve since had a lot of depression from everything going on sit in and kidney stone flare ups as well.

I don’t know when I’ll ever get back to a normal life. I pray for it daily.

I hate asking for help. Truly I do, but bills have to be paid either way and I’m selling off everything I can just to keep a float. I pray most of you know that I’d give if I haven’t already I’d give you the shirt off my back if it would help you. And never asked for anything in return. But I’m asking now, I’m begging for my friends and family to step up and help me out, medical bills are piling up and I see no way of getting them paid I’m focusing on paying what I can to my specialist so they will continue helping me but even that is hard especially when you have no money coming in.
