Imagine: A community coffee shop that upholds an old-town, wholesome spirit! Imagine: A special place that informs, entertains and inspires guests all at the same time!

My name is Bartell Keithley Jr., and I am in the process of opening a “1930’s/1940’s Vintage Coffee Shop” called “OLD MORGAN PARK COFFEE!

My vision is for each of my guests to experience “good old customer service”, specialty coffee drinks,  and a tasty menu.  Come experience respectful baristas, in a place that offers visitors a morning wake-up you won’t get anywhere else!

Through opening this coffee shop; I support my community’s efforts to steer our corridor to become more convenient for dinning, entertainment, and culture...a design for a safe environment for residents and commuters.

In this section of my campaign description I want to share with you how my life experience qualifies me to run such a business.  So, here is some insight to my background:

I began working in the service industry as early as seventh grade.  I later ran three restaurants.  During that time period I was able to add my personal touch to menu items, learn from talented leaders, participate in the financial aspect of the food service industry, and develop a love for “quality, hospitality,  and unparalleled customer service”.

I have also worked closely in my community as a social worker for six years, guiding fathers back into the lives of their families.  My coffee shop will service this same community!

I am currently employed as a union/licensed stationary engineer.  This field exposes me to several technical trades.  My knowledge of these trades helps me to make informed decisions when dealing with contractors during my building process, and I am also able to install and service my own equipment.   My degrees are in Public Relations, Stationary Engineering, and Inner-City Studies.

I qualified for a grant for up to $100,000 through the City of Chicago.  However, the grant only covers build out, and I require additional funds  to cover start-up costs of equipment, supplies, and staffing.

I have been working to secure this location for four years.  It is worth every minute.  The man I have become!  The Endurance! Wow.

This logo was actually designed by my 12-year-old daughter Grace (9 at the time).  Endurance and experience and increased belief has been the major gift since I began this journey.  Thank you.
