Environmental Peacebuilding Travel Grants
Dear friends and colleagues:
We need your help to enable people from developing countries, as well as students, to have their voice heard on environmental peacebuilding! To ensure diversity of presenter viewpoints and background at the Second International Conference on Environmental Peacebuilding, the Conference Organizing Committee requests your help to raise funds for need-based grants to assist worthy peacebuilding professionals and students with their travel costs. The Environmental Peacebuilding Association (EnPAx) has a very limited financial budget to meet this need and help from the Environmental Peacebuilding community will go a long way to supporting the conference goals.
We have set a stretch goal to raise $30,000 by November 5 to help us reach that goal. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, the first $2500 received will be matched dollar for dollar!
Events like the Second Conference support the growing capacity and impact of environmental peacebuilding professionals, researchers, and students by showcasing leading edge thought and lessons learned on the policies, strategies, and approaches to managing the environment and natural resources to support conflict prevention, mitigation, resolution, and recovery. Much of the most important research and perspectives on environmental peacebuilding can be provided by professionals and students coming from war-torn regions facing significant economic challenge.
The Organizing Committee will award funds raised in response to this request for needs-based grants to environmental peacebuilding professionals and students who might not otherwise be able to attend in person. The selection committee will give preference to students and persons from or residing in countries having Low- or Middle-Income Economies (“LMIC”), as defined by the World Bank classification system. Detail on application instructions and selection criteria are available here.
Please join us in raising the money necessary to fund these grants! All gifts* made to this “Assist a Scholar” GoFundMe account will be used for travel grants as described above, and none of them will be provided to EnPAx staff or members for other uses. (In the event pandemic conditions require us to convert the conference to fully virtual, these funds would be held by EnPAx and used for the same purpose in support of the Third Conference.)
The Second Conference will focus on the following themes: Climate Change, Business & Markets, Building the Evidence Base, Public Health, and Rights & Justice. More information about the Conference is available here , and more information on EnPAx is available here .
On behalf of the Organizing Committee for the Second International Conference on Environmental Peacebuilding, thank you for your donations, thank you for helping to get the word out on this, and thank you for enabling everyone to have a voice in environmental peacebuilding!
Gratefully,
Carl Bruch, President, Environmental Peacebuilding Association
