Assist Alvarenga Family Arise from Ashes

A tragic day in Pasadena and Altadena, CA, today. . . Our beautiful communities up in smoke.

Today, my father, sister, and her children lost their house on Harriet Street in Altadena. My father, Miguel (Angel), built most of it with his own two hands. It was the childhood home of my youngest siblings. My family is grateful to be physically safe, but they are completely devastated at this loss of our long-time family home.

The Alvarenga family now has to start completely from scratch. Yes, they are just material possessions, but all of the artifacts of our family history are now gone. My dad's entire life's work in tools, materials and vehicles--also gone.

Baby M, going on two years old, and my teenage niece, are left with nothing. And their mom, my little sister Michelle, who has been a single mom for the better part of the last 15 years, had made life for them so beautiful there. Their home was conveniently located close to my sister's beloved longtime employer, Huntington Hospital.

The devastation in our community is too big for us to even comprehend. On top of our family, we have so many friends and more extended family that are left homeless tonight. So many homes where we experienced the joy of countless unforgettable gatherings with friends and family are now in ashes.

Thank you in advance for ANY contribution. Your contributions will help the Alvarenga's regain their lives. Your healing thoughts and prayers are also always welcome!
