Help The Romeros Rebuild After Extended Apt Complex Violence

I'm posting this on behalf of my friend who for the past 18 months has been dealing with numerous issues related to an influx of people in her apt complex; the past 6 of which was a violent dangerous prison like environment. At first it was a trickle of mostly families trying to make a better life but it didn't take long before problems started, mostly them being really loud at all hours of the day and night partying, playing music, and an uptick in crime like vandalism and theft.
More and more people came and things continually got worse. The noise and violence increased, the landlord disappeared, nothing was being maintained. Groups of men with guns started having shootouts in the parking lot and breaking doors down to take over apts if the resident was gone for more than a few days. They were taking the rent payments and assaulted the guy at the management office and he bailed. For months they paid rent and sought assistance to escape while trying to survive almost daily gunfire and intimidation.
Their cars were shot several times, they had to replace tires, battery, and have bullet holes still in their cars. They bought five extra heavy duty security locks for the front door to keep the intruders out, set up security cameras (the footage for which is all over the news right now). They incurred all maintenance and pest control costs since the building stopped doing anything. They were afraid to leave due to frequent gunfire and apts being taken over and felt like they couldn't go to work for fear of being shot or their apt being held hostage when they returned. They reached out to city officials and the media and noone assisted. Finally a local councilwoman stepped in and was able to help them get into a new apt across town. A few of us friends and family have been watching this unfold; it was nerve wracking going over there to visit and we chipped in to help them move out at end of Aug, with a police escort.
Now they are in a new apt and completely decimated financially by the numerous expenses and limited work hours. They are trying to recover financially and could really use assistance. We know most of those people are not criminals, but unfortunately some were and terrorized everyone.
None of this is an exaggeration. They lived this every day for MONTHS and the city of Aurora, CO did absolutely nothing nor did any of the programs supposedly available. Many people are afraid to speak the truth right now.
I'm trying to raise $25,000 to help them pay off the ton of expenses they incurred, repair their vehicles, and cover rent and monthly bills for a few months while they get back on their feet. These people have been through hell and sincerely appreciate any assistance. Thank you so much.
