Assist in Ledora Moore's Deserved Farewell

Donation protected

  • Hi, my name is Menus Moore, aka Daniel if you're from the old neighborhood on Jackson Blvd on the West Side of Chicago. It deeply saddens me to announce the passing of my mom, Ledora Moore, whom this fundraiser is for. Ledora Moore, aka Ms. Moore, Dora, Momma, Auntie, or Grandma depending on your affiliation with her, died of complications due to pneumonia and sepsis at the age of 94. She lived modestly and struggled most of her life but still managed to help many, including myself.

  • My mom came down to Iowa to stay with me when she was 89 in 2019, and I was refused insurance for her transition whenever that time would come. I foresaw the problem but couldn't get ahead of it. She became ill in 2022 with the same complications, but by the grace of God and prayers from loved ones and friends, she regained her strength, which was phenomenal in itself. It left her with severe bedsores that threatened her life again, but with the help of hospice and Mercy One hospital, we as a team were able to start reversing the bedsores, and all had healed except one, which was the one that had tunneled all the way to the bone and many were predicting death.

  • But through the grace of God and prayers and guidance, I learned how to care for my mom and attend to her medical problems and gave her her meds and took her to her appointments. I knew that God had placed me right where I was supposed to be. Unfortunately, that would be our last battle against death because the good Lord called Ledora Moore home at 12:45 on July 4th. It was a fitting day for her transition because of the woman she was, beautiful, fashion-minded, feisty, and festive. She ascended to heaven with fireworks sounding off and shining bright later that night.

  • Because she had no insurance and most of our funds are diminished due to the cost of living and medical expenses not covered by her insurance, I ask for your help in giving this remarkable woman the burial she deserves. She deserves to have a decent burial ground with her siblings with a tombstone to acknowledge her time on this earth even if financial hardship is trying to prevent that. I am working hard with the funeral homes and assistance programs, but I am stressed with a timeline for respect for her body. Please help if you can.
  • As of today $1500 has been raised. That will go toward cremation cost of $1895. Her burial plot is another $800, plus the cost of transportation to her final destination of Jackson, MS. Tombstone will vary depending on how much is raised through out next Saturday. My friends and alumni have really showed up to support me with prayers and donations. I am eternally grateful. I was able to get the funeral home started on processing the body, which means respect to the body has been honored, thanks to all of you that have helped thus far.
