Our hearts are heavy as we think of my dear friend, Jessica Chapman and the difficult situation her mother is facing. Her mother ,Cora Chapman, after undergoing a colostomy surgery, has passed away, additional information will follow. Adding to this strain, she had been battling stage 4 cancer, a devastating diagnosis that has taken a significant toll. Witnessing the whirlwind of emotions Jess is grappling with, I am making this post as a means to allow anyone willing and able to help with the financial side of this extremely difficult situation. It's an unimaginably difficult and uncertain time, and while any financial contribution would be a huge help for her as she’s trying her best to move through the motions of this, we also ask and welcome prayers from all.
Her Daughter: Jessica Chapman
“My mother has navigated such a challenging, arduous path throughout life. I’ve never met a stronger, more persevering soul than her. She’s the toughest human being I know, sometimes too tough for her own good. She lived with her heart on her sleeve and extended her generosity and kindness even to strangers. A wild child at heart, she breathed life into any room, and her personality was larger than life itself. She left an impact on anyone that was blessed to cross her path in life. After endless diagnoses, surgeries, procedures, and treatments, my mother persevered through all. I’ve always said growing up that my mother would outlive me, as her true determination and strength is unmatched by any other. Although, my mother has been struggling with her health for a very long time now. After a stage 4 cancer diagnosis when I was eleven years old, she managed to overcome an expiration date and even continued to push through many years of new diagnoses and even a six year dialysis run. In December, we had a flicker of hope when mom was given the opportunity for a kidney transplant. The road to recovery was never ending and extremely difficult for her. This year she was once again diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer coupled with osteosarcoma of the bladder. I’ve seen my mother exhaust everything she has to try and beat this. She was tired, she as worn down, she was ready to let go. My mother passed at 3am Friday morning in NMMC’s inpatient hospice on August 2, 2024. Through a whirlwind of anger, sadness, and simply grief, I find solace that my mother is no longer in pain. For any of those that would like to attend, we will be holding a memorial service for my mothers life on August 5th from 2pm-4pm at Associated Family Funeral in Tupelo, Ms. Thank you all.”
