Assist Kat McIntyre along her Transplant Journey

Donation protected
Thank you so  much for considering donating to this life-saving campaign for Kat.

For those of you who know Kat well, you know that Kat is a private person. She doesn't like to be the center of attention and  has a difficult time asking for help. Despite these inherent character traits, the trials and tribulations of life (especially recently) have made her realize that there is no shame in reaching out to friends and loved ones for a helping hand when she is in need of their support . . . especially when that support can keep her alive.

Approximately a year and a half ago, she reluctantly went to the doctor after feeling strange and unwell. The last thing she expected to happen was to leave her appointment with a diagnosis of congestive heart failure. She felt as if she had been handed a death sentence. It has been a journey to come to terms with this diagnosis that has changed the way that she now lives her life.  As she has spent the past year and half at countless doctors' appointments in an attempt to get ahead of this as much as possible, you can imagine the downheartedness she felt when she was recently diagnosed with kidney failure (cardio renal syndrome). Her doctors have advised her that her greatest chance at survival is to have a kidney transplant from a live donor. Her youngest son Grant was quick to volunteer to donate, though we are still unsure if he will be a match. At this time we are hoping and praying for any gracious person/people who would be willing to fill out a donor questionnaire online to see if perhaps you could be the perfect match www.ucdonor.org

Kat will start the transplant process at UCSF Medical Center this month.  While there are still so many unknowns, one thing she does know is that there is a long road ahead of her. As she is a single mother, supporting one son in college, her worries are heightened knowing that she'll be required to be off work and risk losing her health insurance and not being able to cover expenses during and after the surgery.

Your generous donation is greatly appreciated.   We will keep you all updated in Kat's progress.
