Assist Maria Luisa with Funeral Costs

Hi! My name is Valeria and I'm raising money to cover my mom's funeral costs. My husband and I have been off work for the last two weeks to be able to support her around the clock during hospice at home. The money raised so far helped us pay for a few hours of personal care per week (on average $55 per hour, especially for night shifts) for my mom's last days/weeks. Now, the remaining funds raised will be used to cover funeral costs. We plan to bring her remains back to Peru for a celebration of her life.

Background and Introduction

My mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer Stage 2 on her birthday, July 31st, last year. My mom is now 69 years old, and the disease became metastatic on her birthday this year. My mom endured 16 rounds of chemotherapy and a Whipple procedure. She was very close to start a clinical trial but unfortunately was not able to start due to a life-threating infection.

My mom is transitioning to full comfort care at our house, where my husband, Stephen, and I will be taking care of her around the clock. The disease is at an advanced stage that requires her to have intensive support that is demanding in terms of time and energy.

While my husband and I are doing what we can to help, we know that my mom needs more care than we can provide by ourselves. With referrals from her medical providers, we are seeking supportive services that will improve her quality of life while staying home as long as possible.
