I’m writing this with a heavy heart to share heartbreaking news about my Aunt Michele Brown. Michele has been battling severe health issues since last Thanksgiving. Over the past year, Michele’s health has been in a continuous decline, marked by a series of devastating complications. Most of which were kept quiet because she did not want to worry the family. Only recently were we made aware of how severe her state of health truly was.
Michele experienced a stroke last year, which led to several hospitalizations and a challenging recovery period. Her situation worsened in May when a blood clot in her left leg necessitated emergency surgery in Iowa City. Despite the surgery, Michele lost all feeling in her lower leg, resulting in the amputation of her leg.
Her struggles didn’t end there. After returning to a nursing home in Davenport, Michele faced further complications, including persistent low blood pressure and severe constipation. Her health continued to deteriorate, and she was readmitted to the hospital with additional concerns, including a lump in her right leg. Blood tests revealed a severe infection in her colon.
On Thursday night, we received the heartbreaking news that Michele’s condition had worsened significantly. By Friday morning, she was on life support. On Saturday, the situation escalated, and she underwent emergency surgery to remove her colon, which was found to be full of gangrene. Her liver was also critically damaged. Currently, Michele remains on life support and a dialysis machine.
In light of these events, her children are facing not only emotional but also financial strain. The medical expenses have been overwhelming, and now, with Michele's state, they are confronted with the added burden of funeral costs. We are seeking support from our friends and family to help aid in covering these expenses and ensure that Michele receives the respectful and dignified farewell she deserves.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated and will go directly towards covering the costs associated with her funeral. Your support will help alleviate some of the financial stress during this incredibly difficult time for our family.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support.
