Like many of you, I was shocked to see Scott's recent post online about her legal travails. I am glad she opened up and told her story. I'm glad because it allows her friends to help her.
When I first saw the news, I knew I had to immediately contact Scott. She has always been very supportive of me in the past and given me a chance (even when I always didn't deserve it). Bull Branch was also a big part of my life for many years. I point this out because I'm sure many of you feel the same way. When I contacted Scott and told her this, she deflected and tried to change the subject. She doesn't accept compliments well.
Anyone who has gone through legal trouble knows that it can be crushing emotionally, physically, and financially. This is especially true when you are facing the unlimited resources of the Commonwealth. It is financially crushing for most (including Scott). I am making this request after first discussing it with Scott. I can tell you that she is not asking anyone to do this. See my earlier comment on how she doesn't accept compliments well. However, I can tell you that she would be most grateful. I'm sure that many of you would like to help her out in any way possible. Any amount that you can contribute would be helpful.
The money will be used toward Scott's legal defense. This is an urgent, identified need that we discussed. She has a trial date quickly approaching. If there is money left over, she may use it in any way she and her attorney feel appropriate toward resolving the present dispute. After that, she can pay off bills.
We love you, Scott!
