Assist Paul Jernigan's Family in Time of Need

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Brittany Hutson. I’m writing this letter to explain our story.

My father, Paul Jernigan, lived his life in Okeechobee, FL. His whole life he spent as a hard-working man, working on a Dairy Farm to raise his family. He has a total of 5 kids that he has raised up to be wonderful, upstanding people: 4 girls and 1 boy - Natasha, Patricia, Ashley, Brittany & Andrew. Back on Feb 18, 2014, we lost our mother due to natural causes, and that was our father's birthday as well.

Since then, he remarried and about 3 years ago, he and his new wife wanted to move from Okeechobee, FL and they ventured out to a small town in Fon Du Lac, Wisconsin.

Everything was going good for my father and his wife. He found a new job working on new mowers in a factory and then about 2 months ago, he got sick really bad to where he was in constant pain and could not eat.

So his wife took him to the hospital right away.

Well, after arriving at the hospital, my father explained to them what was going on and they took him directly in the back and started doing x-rays and blood work.

Right at that moment is when the doctors discovered that our father had 3 different masses in his body. The first one they saw was on his chest between the lungs, a large mass, then they noticed he had another mass on his back side nearing the shoulder blades, the third mass they found was located on his hip.

Right away they started doing more testing. That is when they realized, after doing a biopsy on the 3 masses, they determined that he had Stage 4 lung Cancer.

They wanted to start the treatment on him right away but there was a process they said they had to follow before putting him directly into chemotherapy.

They gave him an injection to put the cancer to sleep so they can start the chemotherapy. Just two weeks ago, he went back to the ER because he was having a really hard time breathing. After his cancer doctor came into the room, he explained to him and his wife that his body would not be strong enough to perform the rounds of chemotherapy, so they released him to go home on hospice care.

He has not even been home for 2 weeks and today on 6/29/2024, we get the call around 0626 this morning from his wife saying that he took his last breath around 330 to 0400 this morning and then the next call came where we had to inform the oldest daughter Natasha. Well, unfortunately, today is her birthday and her dad has been called to the lord this morning.

With all of this that has happened, neither me nor my family has had any time to prepare for this day and we are being told from the hospital where he is being kept at that we only have a short time to get the funds up to do a funeral for him. Otherwise, they will take his body and donate it to science to further research on the study of cancer.

We hate to even ask anyone for money or donations. But right now at this time, we are really in need of donations to help us give our father a funeral that he has always told us he wanted.

Thank you, Brittany Hutson and all of the Family...
