Assist the Milam Family in Their Time of Loss

Donation protected
Hello. I am John Milam, son of Janice Lee Milam and brother to Harold Lee Milam. For those that know me, I am an extremely private person when it comes to my family. Creating this page is a bit out of my comfort area, but I wrote it to help my family in a great time of need. Our mom, Janice, passed away on August 1, 2024 after a long battle with dementia and a shorter battle with triple pneumonia. Although she fought valiantly, our beautiful mom was called to the Lord days ago. My brother, Harold Milam, was her sole caretaker after 2008, when our father passed suddenly from heart failure. I live in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mom and my brother briefly moved in with my wife and I after Dad passed away in 2008. Mom chose to move back to Oklahoma to be close to her grandchildren and friends she had grown familiar with. 16 years later, after surviving cancer, mom has succumbed to dementia and extreme respiratory issues. As many know, dementia robs persons of their quality of life long before they "physically" die. This has been emotionally and financially devastating on the family. We are a proud family. We will get by no matter what. God provides. I will help out as I promised dad long ago and mom, days ago. I have had many people reach out to ask how they can help. Sitting here, not able to sleep, I impulsively started this page. For the intent and content written here, blame myself and no one else in my family. The financial cost in leaving this world is a burden. Mom wanted to be cremated like dad was years ago and have her ashes scattered with his at a location chosen by them before Dad died. We will be working to get some of her personal things from Lawton, Oklahoma to Crescent, Oklahoma where my brother will be relocating with his fiance and daughter.

If anyone would like to help our family through this difficult process, any donation, however big or small, will be greatly appreciated. Any unused donations after mom is at rest and her memories preserved and protected, will be donated in her name to the National Alzheimer's Association. For those who can't give, we ask you continue to love Mom and carry us through with continued prayer, kindness and understanding. God Bless. ♥️
