Assistance Dog Frankie

Hi, I’m TJ and I run Doggie Dates NSW.

I have never been a huge fan of gofundmes but yesterday one of our long term members dogs, Frankie, had a freak accident resulting in a serious break to his leg.

Bronni, despite huge anxiety, has been a part of our not-for-profit for a few years now and is always putting up her hand (and Frankies paw) to help however she can. Bronnie has an absolute heart of gold and everyone loves Frankie (aka squeaker)

Bronnie is ex navy with severe PTSD, sometimes so unwell she requires hospitalisation though she never complains. She also has multiple physical issues and has turned up on our walks soon after major surgeries - always pushing herself. Her surgeries include:

2016 - Liver Surgery - tumours on her liver (they are still debating if it is from the cleaning products used in the Navy)

2020 - Total right Knee replacement

2022 - Spinal Surgery

Frankie is Bronni’s world and is in training as an assistance dog. With Frankie, Bronni is able to face the world, trauma and all, because he is her support, her companion, her all.

We can not even imagine how Bronni is coping since Frankie’s accident. Please note, this did not happen due to negligence on her part.

Today Frankie had surgery. The orthopaedic surgeon had to put plates and screws in to hold the bones but she is happy with the results and hopefully he will come home in the next few days.

Bronni asks for nothing but we know that, while she has put this on the credit card, she is on a disability pension and life will not be easy with a bill already over $10k. Frankie is so much more than a pet for Bronni and in order to function in the community and in life, she needs him.

If we can ease this burden just a little, we’d like to.

Bronni has done so much for the community, our community, our country. It’s time to show her we care.

I personally have never done one of these fundraisers but I know these two so well and I know how deserving they are of help. I last saw them Thursday night just before the accident and Bronni had a huge bag of goodies for our not for profit.
