Assistance for Jezzy & Getting Aid to WNC!

To say this has been a difficult month is an understatement. My car has given me constant grief as it dies a slow and expensive death.. I had just about pooled together the resources to get back to my home state of NC, where I have family and friends who are coping with devastating circumstances due to damage from hurricane Helene. Through friends I've made connections to volunteer, and do contract work while I’m there, in addition to help my mom with her property in Waynesville, NC.
This week I unexpectedly had to rush my girl Jezebel to the kitty ER, and wait all night to have her seen. It turns out she has a painful abscess on her behind, that needed to be flushed out and treated. I was able to get her Gabapentin and a short term antibiotic until she can go to the vet. I wasn’t able to afford the exorbitantly expensive suggested treatment she needs to make sure nothing more serious is going on, due to her age, and to prevent the painful abscess from coming back. Kitty ER is EXPENSIVE..
We're going to try to go to the vet today, which will hopefully be a bit cheaper.
Currently I can’t cover both my $875 rent, her full treatment, and getting to NC. This queen has been my BFF and my medical ESA for 13 years. She's aided me through the roughest of times. The thought of her being in pain, and not being able to get her the care she needs due to lack of income, has lead me to the point of asking for assistance. If you’re able to throw some love my way, it would help me ensure she’s healthy and safe, and getting out to my WNC community to help with relief efforts.
Anything you’re able to contribute goes directly to helping Jezebel get well, and my ability to get to loved ones. From the east to the west coast, Jezebel and I am so thankful for you all. <3
UPDATE 10/23/24
Jezebel was able to get the emergency care she needed to resolve her abscess and get blood work done, and purchase antibiotics. For this we are SO grateful, and she is doing much better and beginning to be back to her normal self with medication.
Unfortunately, although her immediate problem is resolved, she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and a significant heart murmur.
The hyperthyriodism can be treated with a medication taken twice a day, for the rest of her life. She was also selected as a healthy candidate for an Iodine treatment, that does not involve surgery and would eliminate her hyperthyroidism all together, with a 98% success rate. This procedure costs around $2,000.
The echocardiogram I need to get her to ensure she doesn't have heart disease or anything more serious due to the heart murmur is already around $700. We're hoping the heart murmur is a common result of her hyperthyroidism, but I just don't know until I get her this vital test done.
I'm in the process of saving money to provide her with the permanent treatment down the road. For now, any assistance in getting her closer to good health, so I can feel confident about eventually trying to get home to NC and help family/friends, is deeply appreciated!! Thank you all for hanging in there, as we are all going through so much, and thank you for caring for Jezebel when I've run out of resources. It means the world to us. <3
