On November 23rd, Stephanie was diagnosed with a rare auto immune disease called NMO (Devic's Disease). Specifically, it attacked her spinal cord and optic nerve leaving her right eye with blurred vision after being temporarily blind for a few weeks in that eye. The spinal cord attack has left her right arm with arm spasms that happen repeatedly throughout the day and numbness and tingling in her legs. Her hours at work have been reduced greatly over the past few months due to all the doctors appointments, being sick, or from receiving infusions. She had a second spinal cord attack on New Year's day which has given her severe back pain, leg numbness, weakness, and tingling.
On Friday, she started treatment with Rituxan, a type of chemotherapy that will wipe out her immune system and help this disease from attacking her own body.
Stephanie had exclusively breast-feed their son for the past 10 months and has fought long and hard to hang while being ill these past few months. Unfortunately, she had to stop due to her treatments, adding to the financial burden already placed by doctor's appointments, treatments, and the inability to return to work.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
