Assistance for Uyghur concentration camp survivor
Donation protected
Please donate whatever amount you can to help cover the living expenses and medical treatment of Uyghur concentration camp survivor Tursunay Ziyawudun, who just arrived in the United States on Friday, September 25, 2020.
Tursunay Ziyawudun was incarcerated for nine months in a concentration camp in East Turkistan (called the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region by the Chinese government) until her release in December 2018. Since early 2017, the Chinese authorities have massively detained millions of Uyghurs in concentration/re-education camps, where they are subjected to physical and psychological torture. It is the largest mass incarceration of a minority group in the world today. According to a 9/25/2020 press release by the Uyghur Human Rights Project (www.uhrp.org), in the camp, Tursunay suffered malnutrition, dehydration, forcible injection of unknown drugs, and physical and mental torture. Tursunay needs funds to help cover her living costs as she resettles in the United States and to receive medical treatment for a serious medical issue.
The administrators of this fundraising effort are Uyghur scientist and activist, Dr. Maya Mitalipova and attorney Kathy A. Polias, Esq. who has done work for the Uyghur people. We were inspired to do this fundraiser by Tursunay's story, UHRP's work in bringing her to the United States, UHRP's press release, and UHRP's efforts to assist her resettlement in the United States. The funds collected will be dispensed to UHRP to then transmit to Tursunay or to use for her direct benefit. For more information on Tursunay's story, see https://uhrp.org/press-release/uyghur-camp-survivor-arrives-safely-united-states.html .
