Robert got a bed in rehab last night at 10:30pm. Had his first therapy today and did well. He will have therapy three times a day for one hour at a time. I’ll possibly see him tomorrow and ask if he’d would like visitors. Keep posted for updates!
A big thank you to all who donated. Please continue to share and for those who read this and haven’t donated, please consider it. Every little bit helps. Of course thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
Hi everyone,
Thank you for reading. My brother Robert Anselmo (Division Ave HS class of 1971)
had emergency open heart surgery Two weeks ago. Half his heart collapsed along with several by passes. Surgery went well until later that night, 2am he was bleeding internally. They had to take him back into surgery at that time. His recovery has been challenging as one surgery of this nature is difficult, the 2nd one was not what we hoped for.
He has been on disability for decades due to almost his entire spine has injuries from bad to worse. His SSI (and disability which has ended) leaves him with less than cost of living to live on. He is on Medicare but only picks up 80% leaving him with 20% which we anticipate upwards of a million plus.
He should be moving into a rehab for a week or two when a bed opens up.
He will be left with bills most cannot afford. We’ve tried everything from hospital fiancial assistance which he doesn’t qualify for, to be put on Medicaid which will cost him $950.00 a month which he doesn’t have.
He will be on an enormous amount of prescription meds with copays that he cannot fit into his monthly expenses.
He doesn’t need the added stress of unattainable medical bills at this very fragile time.
The $20,000 start is a drop in the bucket.
Any amount donated will be put to good use.
Us siblings will give him some help directly so there won’t be fees from credit cards and the gofundme costs, that’s why you won’t see our names.
Prayers are appreciated and needed. Please share this even if you cannot donate.
Thank you in advance. Stay well everyone. This situation can happen to anyone of us.
