Assistance with medical costs for Yuki

Donation protected
Our story together begins in 2018. It had been almost a year since I lost my previous rescue dog tragically, this little girl came into my life and I said “I’ll just foster”.

At the time I was an Animal Control Officer striving to help those without a voice and get others to a safe location. I was called to a lower income area in southeast Greensboro NC for a loose dog. Upon my arrival a weak scraggly dog with crystal blue eyes timidly looked up at me tired but hopeful. She had a wound on her forehead and eyes set so far apart I was certain she had brain swelling. I picked up her light bony body gently took her to an emergency vet.

She was released to the shelter the next day with antibiotics and I was informed her hear was just a genetic malformation. I decided to foster her to insure that she regained weight at an appropriate rate to not cause medical issues.

She began gaining weight and her eyes started to sparkle, her wound was healing and she began to smile.

I foster failed and have had her for five wonderful years now. Unfortunately, she still has medical issues such as dwarfism and hydrocephalus, she most likely has an extra chromosome and is predisposed to leg injuries in 2021 we did a series of X-rays at our vet which showed bone shards in both hind legs around the knees and hocks, loss of cartilage, and arthritis.

Since she had such a bad reaction to anesthesia when she was spayed, we opted to do pain management until now. Unfortunately, little Yuki tore her left hind ACL this week. The procedure is costly and I’m hoping y’all would donate to this little angel and help ease her pain. I do have an inexpensive wheelchair for her already, but I hope she has more time before she needs it full time. I wish I didn’t need to ask for help, but working in public service doesn’t allow much in the way of emergency funds.

Yuki is one of the purist spirits I’ve met, she loves everyone but especially children. We have even visited a friend in the hospital and provided smiles and pets for all the staff. Her favorite things in the world are hearing people laugh and dancing. Yuki wishes happiness to all!

with LOVE,

Yuki’s owner Jessica

Today 02/11/23 we were able to pick up a doggy lift/sling so it’s easier for me to assist Yuki walking. We are trying to reduce the swelling until the radiologist/ surgeon get back to us hopefully in the beginning of the week.
