Assistants' Assistance Fund

Donation protected
The sport of lacrosse was, like the rest of the world, hit hard by the pandemic and shutdown.

One group has has been hit harder than most of us realize: low and unpaid college coaches, especially DI men’s and women’s assistants who typically rely on working camps, clinics, tournaments and prospect days to earn thousands of dollars in the summer and fall, but haven’t been able to do any of that since March because of the ongoing NCAA dead period.

Just to make ends meet, coaches walking dogs, stocking grocery store shelves, driving Uber and a lot more. Now, with practice starting up this month, they won’t have time to do those second jobs. They’ll be planning practice, watching film, working on gameplans — you know, their job.

These people — who tend to be young, passionate and starting out in their career — are the lifeblood that move this sport forward in many ways, and the community of lacrosse fans and stakeholders can (and should) help them.

In addition to considering a contribution, if you know of a college lacrosse coach who could use a little bit of help, email [email redacted] with an explanation of who the coach is, how much would be helpful and he or she has been getting by the last nine months.
