June 2020, Nuhadra, Iraq - War torn Iraq continues to face unrest as Turkish airstrikes target the north and indigenous Assyrians continue to experience threatened security in the region and endure the aftermath of the destruction. Damaged property and livelihoods affect three Assyrian villages including the villages of Jalek (Barwar, Iraq) and Bersiveh and Shranesh (Zakho, Iraq) in the Nuhadra, or Duhok, Governate, whereas last year, the inhabitants of Shranesh village had already fled their homes due to continued violence in the area.
Humanitarian aid is requested for damaged home repairs and agriculture, fuel for electricity that is not sufficiently provided by the government and mobile clinic expenses that will fund medical services for the inhabitants.
The unrest in the region is detrimental to the peace and existence of Assyrians in their indigenous homeland. Join us in upholding our mission to help Assyrians in need during these trying times.
